We see the headlines every day.  A consumer is erroneously charged $23 quadrillion dollars for a package of cigarettes.  Cancer patients are suffering from radiation overdoses due to faulty medical equipment.  The U.S. government mistakenly issues federal stimulus funds to prison inmates.

These glitches make us shake our heads and question the value of technology as a catalyst to innovation and wealth creation.  And it’s not just the one-off headlines that cause us to pause.  There’s also automobile recalls, constant consumer product warnings, and the very real threat of cyber attacks that infiltrate governments, shut down power grids and tamper with our water supply.
